Let’s hear it for the girls as we see some of the biggest female names in music take stage in this year’s Tramlines festival in Sheffield. From Grace Chatto, the coolest cello player and member of Clean Bandit, to bad-ass babes in rock band, PINS, we’re super excited to see what the weekend has to bring!
Here at Glossy Pops, we love nothing more than to see the rise of girl power in the festival season. Grace Chatto, known for being one third of Clean Bandit, can transform the classical cello into a whole new electronic dimension. Not only does the band have the perfect tracks to get us in the mood for the festival season, Grace’s on-stage style (as seen from her Instagram) makes us excited to see what she’ll pull out of the bag. We can’t think of anyone better to headline the weekend.
Throughout the few days we will see performances from names such as Stefflon Don and Mabel, both of which have appeared in the charts in recent years. Mabel features in pop singles such as “Finders Keepers” and “Fine Line” with Not3s whereas English rapper, Stefflon Don has a different vibe, collaborating with the likes of French Montana and Skepta. We can’t get enough of their effortlessly cool style with the 90’s inspiration giving us serious fashion envy! Both babes will be performing on Saturday evening consecutively with Clean Bandit.
If you’re more of a rock chick then you can head over to see PINS on Sunday evening at the Library Stage. It goes without saying that your weekend will go out with a bang; these girls are seriously talented. The band takes a whole new angle on female empowerment as they created their own music label ‘Haus of Pins’ to break through the male-dominated rock music industry. Nothing is more important to us than equality, so we cannot wait to see them perform on stage and show the true meaning on girl power. After recently releasing the EP ‘Bad Thing’ in 2017, the band are also touring more dates in the UK this year so make sure to watch out for tickets.
